Gemotions

Lila pulled out the invitation from the overflowing junk drawer. The ornate script seemed to mock her, reminding her of things she had worked hard to forget. She felt a strange buzzing in her ears. She dropped it to the floor. She avoided looking at it, but the memory of those names, those faces, replayed in her head.

She picked it up, then crumpled it. She opened it, and then smoothed it out. The air felt too thick. She felt like she couldn’t breathe. She hated this feeling; it felt like a trap.
